DESCRIZIONE DELL'OPERA

Plastic Apocalypse è un progetto scultoreo in evoluzione dedicato alle conseguenze dell’inquinamento e alla quantità di oggetti che continuiamo ad abbandonare nell’ambiente.

Trojan Warrior è la prima figura realizzata per questo progetto. Ho costruito il guerriero assemblando plastiche raccolte principalmente sulle spiagge dopo le mareggiate e oggetti di uso quotidiano destinati alla discarica. Le loro forme diventano parti del corpo, dell’armatura e dell’elmo.

La verniciatura bianca unifica materiali molto diversi e trasforma l’accumulo di rifiuti in una presenza compatta. Avvicinandosi, però, ogni singolo oggetto torna riconoscibile e rivela l’origine della scultura.

Il guerriero troiano non rappresenta una soluzione al problema, ma ciò che la nostra civiltà potrebbe lasciare dietro di sé: una figura mitologica costruita con i resti del nostro consumo.
