DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK
BITED
Bitten Apple Sculpture from Recycled Road Signs
One single bite. Then abandonment. This contemporary recycled metal sculpture captures the exact moment of interrupted consumption: a red bitten apple left to deteriorate, perfect metaphor for the daily food waste that characterizes our society.
The artwork emerges from a discarded road sign recovered in Sardinia, marked by salt corrosion and years of exposure to the elements. The metal is shaped to recreate the organic apple form, while the bite - central element of the composition - becomes a conceptual statement beyond visual detail. The original material's imperfections (dents, bullet hole marks, rust) are intentionally preserved, creating a fascinating contrast with the glossy surface of the final epoxy resin coating.
Hand-painting with eco-friendly paints reproduces the bright red of the skin and the oxidized brown of the flesh exposed to air. Every detail tells a transformation story: from industrial waste to artistic symbol.
The reference to the famous technological "bitten apple" is intentional: just as we compulsively replace still-functional devices, we waste perfectly edible food. Two faces of the same consumerism.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions about "Bited"
Why is it called "Bited"?
The title "Bited" refers to the act of biting: the act of starting to consume an apple but then abandoning it. It represents daily food waste and our superficial relationship with resources.
What is the message of this sculpture?
"Bited" critiques the paradox of contemporary society: we produce excessive amounts of food that we only partially consume. The bitten apple is a metaphor for incomplete consumption and systemic waste.
Is there a reference to the "bitten apple" technology?
Yes, the iconographic reference is intentional. Just as we quickly consume and discard technological devices, we do the same with food. The parallel critiques both types of consumerism.
What material is it made of?
The artwork is created from an authentic decommissioned road sign, recovered in Sardinia. The original metal retains the marks of time: rust, dents, Mediterranean salt patina.
Can I choose the color of the panel?
This version includes an anthracite panel. If you want other colors or the version without a panel, contact us to check availability.
How is the artwork shipped?
The sculpture is professionally packed in a custom wooden crate with internal protections. Free shipping worldwide, fully insured and tracked.
Is the artwork suitable for outdoors?
No, this sculpture is designed for indoor use. The epoxy resin coating protects the metal, but direct exposure to the elements could damage the colors over time.
