ARTWORK DESCRIPTION

Plastic Apocalypse is an evolving sculptural project dedicated to the consequences of pollution and the growing volume of objects we continue to discard into the environment.

Trojan Warrior is the first figure created for this project. I built the warrior by assembling plastics collected mainly from beaches after storms and everyday objects destined for landfill. Their forms become parts of the body, armor and helmet.

The white polyurethane enamel unifies the different materials and transforms the accumulation of waste into a solid presence. At close range, however, each individual object becomes recognisable again, revealing the sculpture’s origins.

Trojan Warrior does not represent a solution to the problem, but rather what our civilization could leave behind: a mythological figure constructed from the remnants of our consumption.
